Email to Jason Kottke

Hi

I don't know if you are the correct person to ask, but since my question was prompted by your recent link to the Slate redesign, I'll start with you.

Can you please tell me what was wrong with the *old* Slate design? And how the *new* one is better? Because a) it is not and b) it's definitely not.

The logo, the navigation bar, the subhead font, the let's-stuff-as-much-crap-as-we-can-before-you-have-to-scroll, the particularly heinous Nissan ad that drops down on my screen wtf. It's just not right. And exactly how many fonts am I looking at here?

Boo Slate. Boo.

Please link me to the article which can explain this atrocity.

Thank you.
Johnny

Amen. I miss the old Slate. The one that wasn't giving me seizures.

They have an email address at the bottom for "technical problems" with the redesign slateredesign@slate.com

I've avoided the whole issue by not ever reading slate.com

It's done wonders for me.
